"Domaine Jean-Paul Balland is family-owned and operated, with about 60 acres of vineyards, which 50 are planted with Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards are all farmed sustainably. They produce four wines, which include two whites, one red, and a rosé. Their 2018 Sancerre is about as classic as it gets. Crisp, clean, mineral driven, with a grassy aroma. Notes of lemon and lime are more prevalent as the wine opens up. On the palate, the wine is medium bodied, with citrus notes which develop into granny smith apple and pear. I would suggest taking this wine out of the fridge about 20 minutes prior to drinking, as the cold temperature will mask some of the nuances of this wine. This is a year-round white wine, which can be enjoyed by itself or with a variety of cuisines.
